"Yankee Class". Interesting oxymoron. I can't help but think about my friend who wore a Red Sox hat to a game in NY a couple of years ago. Someone SET HER HAT ON FIRE WHILE SHE WAS STILL WEARING IT.

Funny how you always get a person who will use an uplifting event to point out some despicable occurrence in an attempt to prove that the people he hates do not deserve accolades for doing something really nice. Surely you've shown us how classy you are, Michael.

OK, yeah, I was p*ssing on the parade.
But, it was not a FOAF, it was a friend. And I've heard the story from her multiple times - it really p*ssed her off.

My apologies, Michael - many of those stories are apocryphal. If it wasn't in your case, I'm sorry I lumped you in with the crowd.
Best I can offer you at this point is to tell you that I go to 5-10 Yankee games a year, and I've never seen anything like this. There were brawls in the stands back in the '70s, but these days, they control the alcohol in the stands better, there are more cops, and New York City itself has undergone quite a transformation (safest big city in the U.S.). I'd suggest your friend might want to try another Yankee game - she might enjoy it much more the next time around...
(oh, and in the interest of equal time: I went to Fenway Park in Yankee pinstripes & hat, with a 1-year old who was dressed the same way. The only thing we had thrown at us were friendly jibes. It was a very enjoyable experience).
