Did the $20 Bill Predict September 11th?

Erica Kaiser, a friend for many years, sent me another one of those “classic spam” e-mails, containing the twenty similarities between Lincoln and Kennedy. You know the type. I typically scan them and then delete them. But this one had some new stuff at the bottom which literally made me catch my breath. I’m sure I’m over-reacting and no, I don’t have some grand conspiracy theory cooking, it’s just the way this thing unfolds (bad pun as you’re about to see…) is altogether creepy. Click below the fold (another bad pun. Trust me, you’ll see….) for the creepy, breath-catching conclusion.

Step 1: Get a $20 bill and fold it in half lengthwise, like so:

Step 2: Fold the left portion of the bill back like so (notice that the crease goes just to the left of the “D” in “UNITED”):

Step 3: Fold the right portion back in the same manner, with the crease landing just to the right of the “F” in “OF”:

Now, Erica’s e-mail claims that the image just above the fold looks a lot like the pentagon burning after it was attacked on September 11, 2001:

I was skeptical at best. I mean, I guess I could see how it might, possibly, be interpreted that way, but honestly, it’s a stretch. But then (here’s the breath-catching, creepy part):

    I don’t put much stock in these sorts of “ooh, isn’t it creepy” emails — what, are we supposed to honestly believe whoever designed the 20 decades ago was a prophet who inserted a bunch of cryptic messages that no one would get until after the fact? — but I have to admit, this one is a little, um, willies-inducing.

    Right?!? Probably didn’t hurt that I read about it at night, at home, while my wife was travelling & my kids were sleeping, so I had absolutely no one to tell about it.

    I’m not sure if being able to “tell” my blog was comforting, or even more disturbing on an entirely different level…

    Actually, the really creepy part was how the bill predicted the snowfall of yellow 20s all afternoon. I remember walking down Connecticut Avenue and the streets were ankle deep in tiny 2s and 0s.

    Okay, I’m being glib. I thought the Pentagon image was a stretch, but the towers image is much more noticeable. I don’t think this is so much that the *image* is a close match — more that this is an image that we’re primed to see. Even so….
