Minor Blog Maintenance

By Brian | April 14, 2009 | Share on Facebook

Lately, I’ve found myself using the “Recent Comments” widgets on other blogs more frequently, in order to keep tabs on comments I’ve made, whether or not people have responded, etc.. That realization led to a second realization, which is that my blog didn’t have a “Recent Comments” widget.

As you can see on the right sidebar, this travesty was finally rectified this morning.

Brian, when you say “bullet points to show up there”, I am not a 100% sure what it means, since I do not see anything that I would call a “point”.

    I suppose

is precisely the look that you intended for recent comments in your theme (it looks the same in both Firefox and IE), but it is unorthodox enough that I felt it worth mentioning, in case it is a malfunction ;)

Ilya – do me a favor? Try refreshing your cache (CTRL-Refresh in IE). When I opened this post, it had the old format, but when I forced a re-load from the server, it went to the new format – with bullet points, and formatting like this:

    Do you see it?

Yes, that did it on IE. Bullet points and everything. I should have thought of that myself, sorry :)

… and interestingly, I did not have to refresh Firefox afterwards – it just picked up the new formatting…

Thanks for checking, Ilya. Interesting that refreshing on IE somehow made Firefox refresh as well – I wonder if they’re sharing some sort of caching information…
